Puppy Photos

I really enjoy getting the perfect photo of puppies at Longmont Humane Society. It’s great for the puppies profile photos on the shelter website but it can be quite challenging to get a good photo of an energetic puppy or even more challenging when I want to photograph several puppies together at the same time. I need to have all puppies looking at the camera, eyes at the same depth of field if more than one puppy in the image, and an extra bonus if I can get a head tilt. I have two great dog handlers that I couldn’t do it without so thanks to them we get lots of great puppy photos. Before my final edits on these photos, all photos you see here had leashes and often the hands, arms and feet of my handlers in the photo. I remove leashes and people in Photoshop. Except for the occasional photo where I prefer to keep the person in the image such as when I photograph a puppy sitting between someones feet. This trick often keeps a super wiggly puppy still, even if just for a few seconds. Enjoy these images of puppies, the final images as well as a few out takes.
